MODEでは、ダイナミックなチームの一員として高いスキルと意欲を持つIoTソリューションエンジニアを募集しています。IoTソリューションエンジニアとして、専門的な技術知識を提供し、革新的なIoTソリューションを設計し、社内チームおよび顧客と協業することで、当社のIoTビジネスを成功に導く重要な役割を担っていただきます。顧客のIoT要件を理解し、最先端のソリューションを提案し、当社のIoTプラットフォーム製品またはサービスのシームレスな実装と統合を確実にする責任を負います。
- 顧客のIoT要件を理解する： 顧客と協力し、顧客のIoT技術ニーズ、課題、目標を深く理解する。IoT要件を分析し文書化することで、ビジネスプロセスを包括的に理解し、顧客のIoTシステム構築を支援します。
- カスタマイズされたIoTソリューションを設計する： IoT技術、プロトコル、プラットフォームに関する専門知識を活用し、顧客の要件に対応するカスタマイズされたIoTソリューションを設計します。IoTソリューションアーキテクチャ、データモデル、技術仕様を策定し、実装を成功に導きます。
- IoTソリューションのプレゼンテーションとデモンストレーション： 提案されたIoTソリューションをステークホルダーに効果的に伝え、提示します。IoT製品のデモンストレーションを実施し、当社のIoTソリューションのユニークな価値提案を明確にし、クライアントから提起された懸念や質問に対応します。
- 社内チームとのコラボレーション： 顧客のプロジェクトマネージャー、サービスアーキテクト、その他のソフトウェアエンジニアを含む部門横断的なチームと緊密に連携し、IoTソリューションの整合性を確認しながらプロジェクトを成功に導きます。顧客と社内チームとの連絡役として、顧客からのフィードバックを伝え、技術的な洞察を提供し、IoTプラットフォーム提供の継続的な改善を推進する。
- 技術的な実装と統合 実装チームと密接に協力しながら、IoTソリューションの実装を管理します。IoTのベストプラクティスと品質基準の遵守を保証し、導入段階における指導とサポートを提供します。
- トラブルシューティングと問題解決： 顧客との技術的な窓口となり、導入中または導入後に発生する可能性のあるIoT関連の技術的な問題や懸念に対処します。サポートチームと協力し、IoTの問題をタイムリーにトラブルシューティングし、解決することで、顧客満足を担保確保します。
- IoTのトレンドを常に把握する： 最新のIoT技術、標準、業界動向を継続的に調査し、把握します。顧客からのフィードバック、市場の洞察、専門的なIoTの専門知識に基づいて、当社のIoTプラットフォームと方法論の強化に積極的に貢献します。
チームと開発環境
MODEのエンジニアリングチームの一部であるソリューションエンジニアリングチームは、経験レベルも専門分野も異なるエンジニアで構成されています。チームメンバーは多様なバックグラウンドを持ち、カリフォルニアまたは日本で働いています。
- 日米両国のメンバーが同じプロジェクトで緊密に協力することが期待されています。
- メンバー間のコラボレーションは、Slack、Asana、Google Docs、Google Meet、GitHubなどのツールを使って行われます。
- 時差があるため、メンバー間のビデオ通話は通常、太平洋時間の午後遅くに行われます（東京時間は午前中）。
- 社内コミュニケーションは英語及び日本語で行われます。
- 東京オフィスから半径100km圏内に住むことを推奨していますが、必要な時にオフィスに来ることができれば、日本全国どこに住んでいても構いません。(交通費は一定限度まで会社が負担します）。

Responsibilities
MODE is seeking a highly skilled and motivated IoT Solutions Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an IoT Solutions Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our IoT business by providing specialized technical expertise, designing innovative IoT solutions, and collaborating with both internal teams and clients. You will be responsible for understanding customer IoT requirements, proposing cutting-edge solutions, and ensuring the seamless implementation and integration of our IoT platform products or services.
- Understand customer IoT requirements: Collaborate with clients to gather in-depth understanding of their IoT technical needs, challenges, and objectives. Analyze and document IoT requirements to develop a comprehensive understanding of their business processes and identify opportunities for IoT integration.
- Design customized IoT solutions: Utilize your specialized knowledge of IoT technologies, protocols, and platforms to design tailored IoT solutions that address customer requirements. Develop IoT solution architectures, data models, and technical specifications to ensure successful implementation and integration.
- Present and demonstrate IoT solutions: Effectively communicate and present proposed IoT solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Conduct IoT product demonstrations and articulate the unique value proposition of our IoT solutions, addressing any concerns or questions raised by the client.
- Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including customer project managers, service architects, and other software engineers, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of IoT solutions. Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams to relay customer feedback, provide technical insights, and drive continuous improvement of our IoT platform offerings..
- Technical implementation and integration: Oversee the implementation and integration of IoT solutions, working closely with the implementation team. Provide guidance and support during the deployment phase, ensuring adherence to IoT best practices and quality standards.
- Troubleshooting and issue resolution: Act as a technical point of contact for clients, addressing any IoT-related technical issues or concerns that may arise during or after implementation. Collaborate with the support team to troubleshoot and resolve IoT issues in a timely manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Stay up-to-date with IoT trends: Continuously research and stay abreast of the latest IoT technologies, standards, and industry trends. Actively contribute to the enhancement of our IoT platforms and methodologies based on customer feedback, market insights, and your specialized IoT expertise.
Team & Work Environment
The Solution Engineering team as a part of MODE’s engineering team is made up of engineers with varying experience levels and different areas of expertise. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds, and are located either in California or in Japan.
- Members from both the US and Japan are expected to work closely together on the same projects.
- Collaboration among members is achieved through tools such as Slack, Asana, Google Docs, Google Meet, and GitHub.
- Because of time zone differences, video calls among members usually take place in late afternoons in Pacific Time (mornings in Tokyo Time)
- Internal communications are conducted in English.
- We are a "remote-first" team – While we encourage engineers to reside within a 100km radius of the Tokyo office, they may reside anywhere in Japan as long as they are able to come to the office when it is needed. (The company will cover the travel costs up to a certain limit.)
Skills & Requirements
Minimum requirements
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in cloud software development, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Strong technical background in cloud software technologies, protocols, and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Experience of using Linux (or Linux-like) environment for development.
- Experience using Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration.
- Business communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present complex IoT concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams and build relationships with clients.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites for meetings and project-related activities.
- Proficiency in English reading and writing skills, equivalent to a TOEIC score of 600 or higher, and willingness to continuously improve communication skills.
- Business level Japanese
Preferred requirements
- Strong technical background and specialized knowledge of IoT technologies such as MQTT, edge technologies (e.g., embedded Linux, Bluetooth, USB).
- Proven experience as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or similar role in the IT/IoT domain, and a customer-centric mindset.
- Experience using Go language for development.
- Knowledge of gateway (edge) computing in an IoT context.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex IoT requirements and propose innovative solutions.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced business environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
