Soaplife is recruiting!
Soaplife, the weekly soap title published by Time Inc (UK), is looking for a new deputy editor.
First and foremost, the successful candidate will have an encyclopedic knowledge of all things soap and know their Mitchell, Barlow and Dingle family trees from root to branch to new shoots. And that’s just for starters! You’ll also be able to tell us why it would be a cardinal sin to even discuss killing off Tony Hutchinson in Hollyoaks, and you’ll be familiar with all the recent goings-on in Ramsey Street and Summer Bay.
You’ll have to be a multi-tasker who’s used to working as part of a small team; you’ll be expected to deputise for the editor; liaise with soap press offices and other in-house departments; commission features and write the occasional bit of copy; be able to edit, plan and flatplan an issue; and see the potential of a good cover line in the most innocuous-looking story. You should also have an eye for detail and have already spotted that Ramsay Street was spelt incorrectly in the above paragraph.
Experience with content management systems is desirable but not essential. Relevant experience of working in a senior position on TV magazine or a similar environment is required, though.
If you don’t understand storyline embargoes, TV schedules and deadlines, please don’t apply.
To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV, and a letter discussing your relevant experience, why you love all things soap and why you particularly want to work on a soap title. Please include an idea of what your salary expectations are, too.
Deadline for applications is: Friday 6 April
