Soaplife is recruiting!

Company reorganisation has created two exciting opportunities for writers on Soaplife, Time Inc UK’s award-winning fortnightly soap title.

The first is a senior position as a soap features and TV writer. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working on a national magazine or newspaper, know Emmerdale’s Robert Sugden from Corrie’s Robert Preston, be able to wax lyrical on all things Hollyoaks, and be able to translate Mick Carter’s latest gems of cockney rhyming slang into reader-friendly English.

Applicants should also know their way around Ramsay Street and Summer Bay, be used to liaising with press offices and ensuring storyline embargoes are upheld, understand how a TV schedule works, and be able to spot top soap stories and turn them into attention-grabbing cover lines.

The second position is that of a junior writer. The ideal candidate will be a soap fan and have some experience of working in a magazine or newspaper, and have the desire to be trained up for a career as a soap/TV journalist. For this role only, Soaplife will consider applicants without specific experience but with a genuine love of all things soap and an ability to create cracking copy.

Please submit a CV and a covering letter telling us what you’d bring to the job and what you’d change in the magazine along with your salary expectations.
