The Executive Editor will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and creative team to guide all stages of story planning and execution across platforms. Ability to manage and motivate the staff and develop key talent is important. Candidates should have the ability to conceive, edit and package story concepts and multi-platform features in a fast-paced environment with enthusiasm and passion. Candidates should have a passion for health and wellness and be on top of trends in the field.
Oversee day-to-day editorial operations for print magazine, developing lineup, making assignments, working with freelance and staff writers, and top-editing content.
Work with the Editor-in-Chief to create new franchises, invigorate existing ones, and continually evolve print and digital products.
Work with the Executive Creative Director to execute newsstand-forward cover strategy.
Ensure high standards of journalism and editing among edit staff and freelancers across both print and digital.
Work with art and edit staff to ensure creative, audience-friendly execution of all content across platforms.
Coach other staff in packaging, reporting and writing; manage and mentor junior staffers.
Develop new talent, including freelance writers, diverse sources, and other contributors.
Oversee budget for manuscripts.
Foster a creative, innovative culture focused on the consumer.
Collaborate with ad sales, marketing, Time Inc’s The Foundry, and other stakeholders to leverage sales opportunities.
Appear in other media to represent the brand, and participate in brand extensions, such as events, digital media, and books.
A minimum of 8-10 years experience in women's service and/or health journalism
Excellent skill in magazine- and story-making through images and words
A minimum 5 years management experience
Experience in cross-platform journalism (working online and/or with other digital or print products)
