Time Inc. is seeking a Lifestyle News Editor to work on its growing cross-brand news desk, assigning and editing stories on subjects including travel, home, food and style on sites like Travel + Leisure, Real Simple and others. The ideal candidate is self-starting, creative and enterprising, with an ability to work with reporters and editors of all experience levels to conceive and execute ideas for breaking news coverage. This position may include weekend, early morning or evening shifts.
Help run Time Inc.’s breaking lifestyle coverage, including determining angles and stories to pursue, assigning reporters, and editing in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Work with editors across Time Inc. newsrooms (including TIME) to generate lifestyle story ideas.
Ensure that Time Inc.’s lifestyle stories provide the smartest, timeliest coverage possible on the web each day.
Work with audience editors and SEO managers to not only optimize content for success, but also assign stories targeted for audiences on Facebook, Search, Google News and other platforms.
1-3 years experience as an editor or 3+ years experience reporting on breaking news with experience in lifestyle areas like travel, home, food or style
An interest in aggressively covering the news and finding new ways to tell stories and break scoops online.
The ability to work in a highly collaborative newsroom, often under intense time pressure.
