The Job: Software Engineer
Location: Industry City / Brooklyn, NY
Time Inc.’s Editorial Engineering group is responsible for architecting, engineering, and operating systems used by content creators to craft innovative and deeply-engaging stories and experiences. These systems include: story tracking, editorial workflow, photo DAMs, high-speed file transmission, and font management.
Architects, engineers and operates Editorial Engineering group’s applications
Defines and implements best practices in system design, development, and support
Identify application improvement opportunities to increase efficiency
Partner with business stakeholders to understand their requirements to deliver appropriate solutions
3+ years of experience developing and maintaining high quality and secure object-oriented code (Java, PHP, C#)
Experience building and supporting web applications (Java, PHP, .NET framework)
Understands and follows best practices for coding, version control, development cycle, and code documentation
Strong experience with Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems
Experience setting up, configuring and supporting a LAMP environment via command-line
General analytic, triage and troubleshooting skills
Available for 24x7 on-call rotation
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3+ years of comparable technology experience in a corporate environment.
Front-end development including UI design
Experience with cloud services and technologies
Experience writing complex SQL queries (sub queries, multi join, etc.)
Experience working with the quality assurance life cycle
