HEALTH is looking for a detail-oriented and thorough copy editor with a sharp eye and a passion for ensuring all content is clear, logical, accurate, grammatical, and enjoyable to read. Tenacious and self-motivated, this candidate will also work well in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, maintaining a positive and tactful communication style and an even-keeled disposition at all times.
Support the editorial staff by editing and preparing content quickly and accurately for print and digital platforms
Polish and clean editorial content that passes your desk, ensuring fluid, comprehensive and flawless copy
Input and check changes and corrections and proofread page proofs
Collaborate closely with a diverse group of editors, writers and design staff
Work as an integrated member of the staff, helping all team members to move copy efficiently and effectively.
Proven: You have five years of experience working as a copyeditor, preferably on health and lifestyle consumer content (print and digital).
Sharp: You’re on top of your game. You’re skilled in Adobe and Microsoft products (particularly Word, InCopy and InDesign) and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment focused on quality.
Communicative: Grace under pressure. That’s what you have. You’re known by staff at all levels in the organization for your calm, direct, considered (and considerate!) approach to communication.
Determined: You understand that creating excellent content and delivering it on time are interconnected goals.
Detail-Oriented: You have a keen eye for detail, both in the text and in the layouts, enabling you to spot everything from an errant comma to an incorrect font to a mislabeled caption
A Broad Thinker: You are able to understand process on a macro level, craft relevant improvements to workflows, and win buy-in for change efforts that aid in efficiency and accuracy.
