Located in Birmingham, Alabama, is the Time Inc. Food Studios, a state-of-the-art facility featuring 28 test kitchens, 13 photo studios, a prop and styling studio, an outdoor grill/BBQ station and an expansive showcase kitchen and tasting room for demonstrations and events. Powered by a talented team of test kitchen professionals, stylists, and photographers, the Time Inc. Food Studios is the country’s premier creative hub, producing thousands of world class recipes, images and related content annually for Time Inc.’s print, cookbook, digital and social platforms.
The Food Stylist will work closely with photographers, photo stylists, designers and editors to achieve and uphold the aesthetic goals of each project.
Prepare recipes for photography as part of a dynamic, creative team that support multiple brands and aesthetics
Organize workflow, including necessary pre-prep, to ensure food is ready to go on set in a timely manner
Communicate closely with photographers and photo stylists as to timing of “camera ready” food
Maintain a file of inspiration shots (either digitally or physical tear sheets). Conduct regular research of food styling trends through websites, blogs and magazines
Closely monitor grocery/shopping lists to ensure the proper items are purchased for all photo shoots, anticipating the need to order specialty or hard-to-find items to ensure arrival for photo shoot
Experienced: You have a B.A. in photography/design with food-related experience or B.S. in a food-related field; 3-5 years’ professional food styling experience for lifestyle brands.
Connected: You have a history of getting to know your audience deeply – their taste, aesthetic and cooking habits – and a record of staying true to that audience. You know when to push comfort zones and when to stay true to tradition.
Organized: You live by prioritization and organization. You’re a born multitasker who loves to take on a good challenge; especially on a tight deadline. You see the big picture, but your attention to detail and creative flair make you an invaluable asset to any team.
