The job:

Southern Living is seeking a talented editor with a sharp eye to be its new Senior Style Editor. The person will have an obsession with Southern culture, a passion for creating beautiful things, and a desire to conceptualize and execute editorial ideas that provide inspiration and service to our audience.

You will:

  • Oversee the market department for the brand. You will constantly be on the hunt for new, vintage, and Southern-made products
  • Guide the overall aesthetic of the brand
  • Dream up unique cover concepts and themes
  • Produce and style photo shoots in studio and on location
  • Be hands-on, relentlessly positive, and eager to execute ideas
  • Scout homes and locations across the South
  • Be willing to represent the brand at trade shows, photo shoots, panel discussions, and other necessary brand events

You have:

  • 5+ years experience covering the lifestyle market for a leading media brand (print or digital)
  • A passion for Southern lifestyle content, which includes interiors, gardens, holidays,  entertaining, food, travel, beauty, and fashion
  • An understanding of and deep appreciation for Southern culture and style
  • The ability to work collaboratively and efficiently under pressure
  • A strong network of designers, stylists, and tastemakers to call on as needed
  • Experience being on and off set producing columns, features, and covers (no job is too big or too small)
  • Interest and experience in video, digital, and new ways to bring the brand to life across platforms
