SPORTS ILLUSTRATED is looking for an Executive Producer to help drive significant growth and interest in SI’s ongoing audio efforts. The right candidate will be equal parts producer, marketer and visionary, with the ability to work across the newsroom to better integrate audio into the fabric of everything SI does.
Candidates must have a portfolio that showcases a proven ability to craft compelling audio narrative, be it short- or long-form. The right candidate must also have a track record of managing relationships with third-party vendors, strategic partners, and sponsors.
A strong interest in sports is preferred, as is a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed
All candidates must submit a memo outlining a vision for what SPORTS ILLUSTRATED should sound like and what shows/opportunities you would pursue in Year 1.
Set and execute the strategy (from content, to distribution, to marketing and audience development) for SI’s audio efforts
Help conceive, pilot and launch new audio shows
Manage and execute show production from inception through publish
Work with strategic partners to help audio reach new audiences
Collaborate with team members across the SI brand, from editors to PR to sales
Provide ongoing feedback to help talent reach their full potential
Balance multiple short- and long-term projects simultaneously
Help generate ideas that fully leverage the potential of all audio platforms
Five-plus years of experience developing content or content strategy within the radio or podcast industry
Experience with Adobe Audition or other relevant audio recording and editing software
Experience with or knowledge of business models and sponsorship formats for audio advertising
An interest in thinking creatively about and pushing the boundaries of traditional audio formats
Ability to identify and develop host talent
Proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt within a fast-changing news environment
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
