Copy and Research Editor, Travel + Leisure, Departures, and Centurion
Work as a member of the combined copy and research team of Travel + Leisure (12x/year), Departures (9x/year), and Centurion (2x/year). The primary role is as a copy editor.
Copyedit text, on screen in InCopy and on printed proofs, to ensure it is well written and logically structured, has correct grammar and spelling, and hews to the different voices and styles of the magazines.
Input corrections from paper proofs.
Help with traffic control/workflow for the department.
Pinch-hit on fact-checking shorter stories (this will be about 25% of the job).
Proven: You have two or more years of experience as a copy editor at a consumer or trade magazine. Preference will be given to candidates who also have a professional background in fact checking.
Sharp: You thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment focused on quality. You’re a lifelong learner, with a broad range of knowledge in subjects that might include travel, food, visual and performing arts, history, fashion, and design. Familiarity with foreign languages is a plus.
Communicative: You are personable, engaged, and collaborative.
