The job:

TIME is seeking a Senior Audience Strategy Editor to lead its social media presence, SEO strategy, newsletter production and audience growth. S/he will collaborate with writers and editors on everything from daily news coverage to franchise events. Daily responsibilities will include using data analytics to develop TIME’s audience strategy, growing TIME’s existing audience and launching accounts on emerging platforms, overseeing strategic partnerships and engaging with the newsroom on best practices. The Senior Audience Strategy Editor will lead conversations around TIME’s audience strategy and digital growth.

The ideal candidate will have a journalism and/or audience development background, and at least 4-5 years of professional experience in online journalism, preferably with branded social media accounts. S/he should be aware of digital media trends, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, comfortable working collaboratively and eager to learn.

You will:

  • Identify trends in the social media/audience development industry and adapt audience strategy accordingly
  • Grow TIME’s audience on existing platforms and expand the brand’s presence on emerging platforms
  • Manage strategic partnerships with platforms like Flipboard, Apple News, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and pursue new partnership opportunities
  • Develop TIME's voice and posting strategy based on short and long-term data analysis and editorial goals
  • Liaise with the ad sales team on campaigns, sponsorships and amplify social
  • Grow TIME’s newsletter audience through editorial best practices and subscriber campaigns
  • Develop social media rollout strategy for TIME’s biggest franchises and enterprise projects
  • Follow breaking news and collaborate with news editors to promote stories
  • Train writers and editors on social media and SEO best practices
  • Manage a team of 4-5
  • Meet monthly KPIs and goals

You have:

  • Strong understanding of social media and SEO best practices
  • Proven experience in growing a digital audience, identifying social media trends and creating a multi-platform strategy
  • Strong news judgment
  • Experience in optimizing newsletters and growing subscriptions
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability in meeting KPIs
  • Proficiency with content management systems, HTML and data tools
  • Ability to manage a team and be a leader in the newsroom
  • Mastery of writing catchy copy with meticulous attention to detail
