The job:

TIME is looking for a sharp, creative and ambitious writer to take on the role of television critic in New York or Los Angeles. The ideal candidate is an avid consumer of TV and streaming with a unique critical voice, a deep knowledge of pop culture and the ability to quickly and thoughtfully reflect on news in television and the broader media landscape. This job isn’t just about reviewing TV—it’s about connecting the dots between what people are watching and larger social, cultural and political trends and ideas. 

You will:

  • File weekly television reviews, both for the magazine and Time.com
  • React to breaking news in real time
  • Pitch and write features and essays, within and beyond your beat
  • Represent TIME to the entertainment industry

You are:

  • Experienced: You will have at least two to five years’ experience as a writer or editor writing about TV, and an established platform as an authoritative voice in entertainment.
  • Passionate: You live and breathe TV, and have a lot to say about both the biggest shows dominating culture and the little-watched gems that deserve to be spotlighted.
  • Engaged: Your work ethic is formidable. Your competitive streak is healthy. You’re collaborative and take the initiative on writing about what matters.
  • Flexible: Journalism is constantly evolving. You’re ready and willing to change with it.
