Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain the critical warehouse infrastructure that supports our team in making smart business decisions. This senior level role reports to the Director, Engineering and establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables. These projects include conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan, and data security policy. 

You will be responsible for data infrastructure decisions and architecture proposals and lead the daily development of data products and reports that serve the internal and external clients of the organization.

This role in based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What We’ll Create Together

  • Operational excellence and to extend a world class data lake/warehouse in GCP BigQuery
  • A seamless process to extract, transform, and load production data into the data warehouse using AirFlow
  • A partnership with Producers and Analysts to develop data that supports key metrics and reports for business development for us and our publishers
  • An adaptive environment to respond  an ever changing production environment, rapidly updating to provide a consistent, accurate view of our data
  • A strong working relationships with Directors and CTO on key projects

 

What You’ll Bring to the Team

At Tilia, we celebrate all the dimensions of diversity, including diversity of experience. We recognize that candidates applying for this role will be most successful if they bring the following with them:

  • 8+ years as a professional Software Engineer; 6+ years relevant Data Engineering experience
  • Deep technical understanding of SQL and relational concepts
  • Extensive experience optimizing SQL queries and developing indexes for performance
  • Strong software development experience, including testing, preferably with Python
  • Expertise working with data in the cloud: AWS, GCP preferred
  • Experience developing DAG-based ETL jobs, preferably using AirFlow
  • Experience working with version control systems, such as Git
  • Experience with AWS Data Migration Service a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong record of excellent communication, problem solving, and attention to detail

Tilia’s Total Rewards philosophy ensures a fair, equitable, and unbiased approach to compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate. 

Depending on your U.S. work location, the full compensation band for this position can have a varied range  + equity incentive plan + generous benefits program, including comprehensive medical, dental, vision and 401(k). Actual base pay is dependent on many factors, including experience, competencies, skills, internal equity and calibration to market data. Our compensation philosophy includes a location-based strategy, which means that the starting salary within this range will be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position is filled. All new hires are entered at the midpoint of their location-based range.
