About the Engineering Team
At Thumbtack, engineers at every level build products and systems that directly impact our customers and professionals. Our challenges span a wide variety of areas, ranging from building search and booking experiences, to optimizing pricing systems, to building tools to help professionals grow their businesses. We believe in tackling these hard problems together as a team, with strong values around collaboration, ownership and transparency. The challenges on Pro Job Management range from product questions about what tools we need to build for pros to get the job done, to technical explorations, such as the best way to build tools that work with different types of pros (small versus large pros, app-based pros versus web-based pros, etc). We are constantly looking for new ways to help pros better serve their customers and get jobs done with minimal extra work. Our work affects pros’ day-to-day lives and by extension their customers’. Our challenge is to be able to make positive experience improvements that are also impactful and effective.
About the Role
The Pro Job Management team is working on building a bookings platform for pros to seamlessly manage their leads and bookings on Thumbtack, and get each to a hire and a job done. We own many of the tools that pros use to get the job done, such as price estimates and customer-pro payments. Likewise, we maintain the pro inbox and leads page that pros use to keep track of their jobs and communicate with customers. As an Android Engineer on the Pro Job Management team you will be building out new tools to help pros get jobs done, along with iterating on how pros manage customer contacts and interact with new ones. We’re looking for engineers excited to build a fantastic product as our team scales, and as we work towards elevating the pro experience to new heights.

- Willing, when necessary, to solve tough technical problems at any level of the stack, and be persistent in getting to the solution.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Product and Design to plan and execute on engineering projects
- Work on large projects and lead small teams of engineers
