About the Financial Planning & Analysis Team

Financial Planning and Analysis is a highly visible team who use both quantitative and qualitative analysis to plan and evaluate Thumbtack’s financial performance against company goals. 

FP&A transforms the Thumbtack strategy and vision into a financial plan using critical analysis, planning and modeling. We forecast revenue, expenses and profitability, set annual financial targets and are critical to Thumbtack’s success.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Business Partnership FP&A, the Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A - G&A will be the trusted Finance business partner to Thumbtack’s G&A leaders and budget owners. This role will own the expenses budget and forecast across all G&A functions, and support investment decision making to ensure continued success of these functions.

This is a highly visible role working with senior leaders within the organization. The candidate will have a strong background in business partnering and be able to translate complex financial concepts to non-financially minded partners. This role will also provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support the G&A functions as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the monthly, quarterly, annual forecasts for all G&A Departmental spend
  • Partner with G&A Leads to provide insight into investment activity and understand ROI and IRR on proposals
  • Act as primary conduit between Corporate FP&A and G&A leadership to ensure planned and actual spend aligns with company targets
  • Build positive relationships and effectively communicate insights with partners
  • Provide analysis and insights into variances between actual and expected financial results
  • Provide front line support for ad hoc financial analysis requests and inquiries

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • 5+ years of FP&A experience, with strong business partnering experience across expense planning, investment support and KPI target setting
  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills, using key tools within Excel and G-Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision
  • Ability to describe complex financial techniques to non-financial people
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical and system skills

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience working for a tech company
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross functionally
  • Financial Planning Systems experience
  • SQL Experience
