Description:

The Head of Revenue Accounting is a high visibility opportunity in a fast-paced environment and will have a direct influence on the entire revenue accounting function and related activities including, accounting policy, internal and external revenue reporting, process design and systems implementation. In addition, the Head of Revenue Accounting will play a key role in designing the process and controls for revenue accounting operations, including billing, collections, and commissions accounting.

The candidate should have a CPA or Equivalent including Big 4 accounting and relevant public company industry experience. We are looking for someone that enjoys solving challenging problems and is looking for a broad set of revenue and accounting-related responsibilities. The right person will be ambitious with leadership qualities, who wants to learn and grow professionally at a fast growing, pre-public company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical revenue accounting conclusions and implement ASC 606 revenue and ASC 340 contract costs accounting
  • Optimize and improve processes surrounding revenue close
  • Participate and or lead system implementations and process improvement initiatives for the entire Order-to-Cash-to-Revenue Recognition flow
  • Prepare/review technical memos for complex revenue arrangements
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
  • Establish internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in the revenue process
  • Develop and oversee monthly revenue close process
  • Be a critical part of the external audit of the company’s financial statements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (FP&A, Revenue and AR, Project Management, Payroll, etc.) to ensure complete, timely, and accurate monthly and quarterly revenue accounting close
  • SAAS revenue and revenue operations experience, including subscription billing and revenue recognition
  • Continually look to improve accounting processes so the Company can scale as they grow
  • Train & mentor revenue team

Qualifications

  • CPA certification or equivalent required
  • Big 4 experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of public company work experience in accounting, IPO experience is a plus
  • Strong background in technical revenue accounting
  • People management experience with the ability to mentor, develop and motivate employees
  • Experience with NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce, RevPro or ARM will be highly desired
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy when both preparing and reviewing work
  • Exposure to global accounting organizations
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Proven business partnership skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi- task and meet deadlines
