About the Role

We are looking for an adaptable Accountant to execute transactionally and strategically on the financial aspects of running a business—someone who can drive process improvement, enhancing the speed and accuracy of Thoropass’s financial reporting. As one of the key hires, we are looking for an intellectually curious, self-starter with a strong bias towards action and is interested in working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment. If you are passionate about developing a scalable Finance function to support a hypergrowth SaaS organization, we would love to talk with you.The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of experience in accounting. The exact title and responsibilities will be based on experience and skill set.

What You'll Do

  • Manage end-to-end billing, collections, accounts receivable, and accounts payable process
  • Assist with the month-end close process, including account reconciliations and maintenance of monthly support schedules
  • Provide direct support for successful annual audit and tax work
  • Assist with the implementation of accounting procedures, systems, and controls
  • Identify, design, and assist in implementing strategic enhancements to drive financial data accuracy and expediency, including reconciliations, controls, internal process improvements, technology upgrades, etc.
  • Proactively contribute to our growing finance and accounting function, with a distinct focus on systems, process, and scalability
  • Assist in analyzing financial trends and variances to improve data accuracy and escalate opportunities for financial upside (revenue upside, cost reductions, etc.)

Work cross-functionally within the organization to compile and enhance financial / SaaS metrics tracking, reporting, and visibility 

Skillsets/ Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance (or related) field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a startup, corporate, consulting, or audit capacity
  • Well-versed in GAAP
  • Strong Excel skills, including data tables, pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and financial systems, processes, and all applicable accounting and tax standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail, investigative, and analytical skill
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities – prioritize effectively and deliver results with an ownership mentality
  • You’re eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, exciting startup environment

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with Xero, Salesforce, SaaSOptics/Maxio, Avalara, Ramp, or similar cloud-based CRM, finance, and accounting platforms
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS and familiarity with terms such as ARR, CAC, LTV
  • Understanding of ASC 606 in relation to SaaS business
  • Public accounting experience a plus but not required
