About the Role

As FP&A Director, you will report directly to the CFO.We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded financial professional to lead our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function. The ideal candidate will manage the company's annual budget, rolling forecasts, and monthly financial reviews, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals. This role involves organizing and leading monthly financial performance reviews, providing actionable insights, and managing key unit economics metrics such as Gross Margin, Net Dollar Retention (NDR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and Lifetime Value (LTV). You will also be the source of truth for headcount and hiring forecasts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to support strategic decision-making.

In addition to financial reporting, this position requires strong collaboration with various departments to gather data, validate assumptions, and foster strong working relationships. You will support long-term strategic planning and financial modeling, identify opportunities for process improvements, and implement best practices to enhance the FP&A function's efficiency. The role also involves conducting ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and holding weekly discussions with senior executives to discuss performance targets. What You'll Do

  • Annual Budget Ownership:
    • Lead the development and management of the company's annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
    • Oversee the preparation of detailed financial plans and projections.
  • Rolling Forecast Management:
    • Implement and manage a dynamic rolling forecast process to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial projections.
    • Continuously update forecasts based on actual performance, market conditions, and strategic changes.
  • Monthly Financial Reviews:
    • Organize and lead monthly meetings with department heads to review financial performance against the budget.
    • Facilitate meaningful discussions to analyze variances, understand key metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on financial data.
    • OWN the Headcount and Hiring Forecast (this person is the source of truth for what roles are budget approved, what backfills are available, etc).
  • Unit Economics Analysis:
    • Own and manage the calculation and analysis of key SaaS unit economics metrics, including but not limited to:
      • Gross Margin
      • Net Dollar Retention (NDR)
      • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
      • Lifetime Value (LTV)
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of these metrics to support strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligns with accounting standards and best practices.
  • Strategic Financial Planning:
    • Partner with the executive team to support long-term strategic planning and financial modeling.
    • Provide financial insights and scenarios to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with various departments to gather necessary data, validate assumptions, and ensure accurate financial planning.
    • Foster strong working relationships across the organization to support collaborative financial management.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and tools.
    • Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FP&A function.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis:
    • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
    • Provide clear and actionable insights based on data analysis.
  • Work directly with senior executives at the company on a weekly basis, holding meaningful discussions to discuss why performance targets are vs are not being met

Skillsets/ Requirements

  • Strong experience in MS Excel, G Suite, Financial Systems, Salesforce, BI Tools
  • Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Analytical mindset to draw insights from data, deep dive into operational drivers, and influence business decisions
  • Advanced level of proficiency developing financial models and consolidated forecasts, using both bottoms-up and top-down approaches, from scratch in MS Excel / G Suite
  • Proficiency in supporting both Go-to-Market and Tech business units and organizations with financial modeling and budgeting
  • Excellent communication skills and experience creating board level and management ready presentations including a strong ability to work with and present to and support senior leadership
  • Finance and accounting experience in a SaaS company
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or other analytics-related fields
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related or equivalent experience; or 6+ years and an advanced degree
  • Work is performed in an office (or home office) environment and requires the ability to operate office equipment and keyboards

  •  Experience with start-ups from early stage through growth phases
  •  Located in NYC or Washington DC area preferred

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000, which will be commensurate with experience
