What We Do

Thoropass combines simple software with expert guidance to help companies manage security compliance, security audits, and enterprise procurement security diligence. Thoropass helps companies adopt stage-appropriate compliance practices that enterprises can trust and reduce the time and costs of security audits by 50% or more.

We are a rapidly expanding team based in New York. We were founded in May 2019 and raised our Series C funding in November 2022. Our top investors include J.P. Morgan, PayPal Ventures, Fin Capital, Centana, Canapi and Bain Capital. We're growing customers and revenue dramatically, and we’re poised for continued break-out growth in 2024 and beyond.

About the Job

As our Head of People, you will have an outsized impact on all that makes Thoropass an incredible place to work. Through thoughtful policies, informed strategy and high-EQ, you will further develop a platform and function that develops, inspires, onboards and retains an outstanding team.

Reporting directly to our President/COO and Founder, Eva Pittas, and matrix reporting to CEO and Founder, Sam Li, you will play an essential role in building and fostering our high-performance team and building cross-functional partnerships with the rest of our executive team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives and programs that align with Thoropass's mission and values
  • Act as a strategic, cross-functional partner to our executive team, providing guidance and support on all people-related matters
  • Develop and maintain values-aligned and compliant policies 
  • Own the recruitment and onboarding process end-to-end, ensuring a positive and efficient experience for all new hires with an emphasis on thoughtful diversity and inclusion initiatives 
  • Manage our performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and career development plans
  • Own annual planning and compensation reviews, including base comp, variable comp and equity strategy on an ongoing basis in partnership with the finance team
  • Manage employee relations issues as they arise, including conflict resolution and appropriate action
  • Develop and manage team engagement initiatives to foster a positive and motivated team
  • Conduct regular reviews of people-related processes and systems to identify areas of opportunity and iterate accordingly, leveraging knowledge of industry trends and best practices 
  • Develop and deliver ongoing leadership development and manager training focused on the continued growth of the team 
  • Model Thoropass’ mission, values, and culture, promoting a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment and ensuring these values are integrated into all aspects of the organization 
  • Own and effectively manage the Develop and manage the HR budget, ensuring efficient use of resources
  • Identify, own, track and report on key people metrics  

About You:

  • You are a results-oriented, empathetic leader, passionate about building happy, effective, high-performing teams
  • You understand and are comfortable navigating the constraints and complexities of a high-growth startup environment
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable and adept at having difficult conversations
  • You are strongly analytical and know the best decisions leverage the right metrics, in addition to intuition and qualitative factors 
  • You have a strong EQ, sense of judgment, and commitment to privacy

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 10-12+ years of progressive people leadership experience, preferably in a high-growth tech start-up through the process of scaling 
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with a track record of bringing concepts to life through excellent execution 
  • Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and HR operations
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive change, and foster a collaborative, diverse and inclusive culture
  • Strong ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization via thoughtful communication
