What We Are Looking For
ThirdLove is growing quickly and looking to make a key hire that will help us build the financial foundation to scale with our company’s growth. As the Accounting Manager, you will have a hand in both designing and executing month-end close processes and reconciliations as well as helping run the day to day operations of the accounting function.
What You Will Own And How You Will Make A Difference
1. Month-End Close: Manage all aspects of the month-end close process and lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Calculate complex accruals, review journal entries, and perform account reconciliations and fluctuation analyses. Drive efficiencies and improvements. Coordinate and lead close meetings, including management presentations.
2. Accounting Operations: Own all aspects of the accounts payable and treasury functions including, but not limited to, bill review/approval, vendor communication, payment remittance, and cash reconciliation. Also own other daily accounting operations including accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and general ledger (GL) functions.
3. Inventory: Manage inventory balances and activities for multiple locations and distribution channels, including reconciling landed costs & in-transit inventory and monitoring adjustments & shortages. In conjunction with monthly financial close, ensure inventories are properly valued and reserved, liabilities are properly stated, gross margins are accurate and any significant variance versus forecast/expectation are explained.
4. Audits and Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors in preparation of annual financial statement audits, bank audits, and inventory appraisals by providing requested support and managing auditor communications. Collaborate with external parties to complete required tax filings such as domestic and international sales tax and GST. Ensure successful and timely completion of audits and tax filings.
5. External Reporting: Manage and prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly investor and debt reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
6. Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development and ensuring high levels of performance and accuracy. Provide training, timely feedback and coaching.
7. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and cost efficiencies within the accounting function.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Product, Supply Chain/Logistics, Marketing…etc.) to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
9. Ad-hoc Analysis/Reporting: Various other tasks and analyses as assigned or needed
You Have
- Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working toward CPA preferred
- 5+ years of overall accounting experience, with at least 2 years public accounting experience preferred
- 2-3 years of management experience
- Experience with ecommerce/retail or consumer goods
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite strongly preferred, Bill.com), Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; BI tool (Looker) experience preferred
- Strong knowledge in inventory reconciliation and costing/valuation
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate to leadership and collaborate across teams
- Proven ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement processes/systems to address
- Confident, energetic, team player who demonstrates good judgment and influences outcomes cross-functionally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, balancing multiple priorities and have strong sense of ownership

Compensation
Annual base salary range of 85K-120K
