INTRODUCTION
The Zebra is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead our growing Infrastructure team! This person will own execution and process for their team, ensuring expectations are set and deliverables are met. They will assist with hiring and are responsible for the technical and career growth of individual engineers.
Our infrastructure team is responsible for creating and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers our site. This team is made up of DevOps and Infrastructure Engineers working in AWS, Gitlab, and Cloudflare to name a few. Ideally this candidate will have experience leading teams primarily in an Infrastructure, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering context.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Manage the development and delivery of technical solutions
- Maintain a deep understanding of engineering/product/business needs and priorities, and work with product management and other stakeholders to ensure your team has a clear vision
- Balance priorities to ensure the team effectively completes long term efforts while resolving defects and managing technical debt
- Lead projects and advocate for high-quality codeIdentify opportunities to improve the development process
- Assist in recruiting and hiring processes
- Set and monitor performance goals for teams and individuals, providing feedback through reviews, one-on-one’s, and in day-to-day discussions
- Ensure engineering is always adding business value; clearly communicating business goals to engineering teams, as well as technical solutions to stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-4+ years experience leading and directly managing engineering teams, primarily in an Infrastructure, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering context
- Passionate about building and coaching high-performing engineering teams
- Organized and excited about creating and optimizing engineering processes to set teams up for success
- Track record of developing employees both technically and professionally
- Proven success recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding new developers
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Ability to bring people together to create an empowering and exciting work environment
EXPERIENCE THAT WILL IMPRESS THE HECK OUT OF US:
- Experience with AWS administration
- Containerization, Docker, Kubernetes experience
- Python/Django experience
- JavaScript experience
- Experience with unit testing and test-driven development
- Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and/or Lucene-based indexes
