The RealReal Buyer Activation team is looking for a kind and curious Software Engineer who enjoys solving challenging problems and working with Elixir, Javascript and React. The mission of the Buyer Activation team is to optimize the ease and enjoyment of the Buyer experience for both new and repeat customers.

As a Software Engineer you will be an active hands-on contributor. You participate in team design, scoping and prioritization discussions. You are able to take a defined design and turn it into code and deliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. You will be able to contribute to significant initiatives as well as code reviews and pairing with other engineers.

This role reports to the Engineering Manager of Buyer Activation and can be fully remote!
What You Get To Do Every Day
- Produce high-quality, performant, and testable code for The RealReal homepage and other top-level customer facing pages including search, product display and user sign-up and sign-in
- Develop using interesting technologies -- Elixir, Ruby, Typescript/React, GraphQL, Kafka
- Have input into technical decisions that will shape the future of our software systems
- Learn something new, whether its a new software design pattern or new initiative to push the company forward
- Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to your peers
- Pair up with a team member to work together on features
- Deploy user-facing code to production
- Act as a strong partner to product and engineering management
What You Bring To The Role
- 1+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of reusable components / building component libraries
- Understanding of building production-ready web applications and systems
- Experience with any of Elixir, Erlang, Javascript, or another programming language
- Experience with git and Github workflows
- Bachelor of Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
Bonus Points
- Experience building eCommerce platforms
- Understanding of web technologies: HTML5, CSS/SASS, REST, JSON
- Experience with GraphQL
