About the Position

Serves as a representative of The Oncology Institute, connecting the organization’s physicians to external providers.  Responsible for developing and implementing a strategic marketing plan in designated territories to grow and maintain referrals and increase loyalty and preference to The Oncology Institute. Connects our medical practice to the local healthcare community.  

Responsibilities:

Develops territory initiatives to build patient volume, increase high revenue treatments and favorable provider perceptions among external referral streams through a varied sales approach which includes relationship building, cold calling, account management and community outreach.

Gathers and interprets the data necessary for a designated territory to determine, through identifying new business opportunities, competitive analysis, SWAT analysis, and tracking and trending reports, priority areas for growing, recovering, and maintaining referrals.

Meets with referring physicians and their staff to discuss patient satisfaction, services, current trials, and appreciation for new referrals.

Develops meaningful relationships with key contacts, including Administrators, Department Managers, Nurse Managers, Liaisons, MAs, staff and others in area provider practices, hospitals and other relevant organizations and maintains referral relationships through routine follow up visits.

Develops strong relationships with relevant community organizations and businesses to increase their advocacy of The Oncology Institute

Maintains marketing database which includes referring provider information, field activity and follow up plans.

Responsible for developing relationships and communicating with designated internal physicians on a routine basis, providing information about potential new providers and their practices, scheduling P2P meetings and presenting market data for collaboration and business development.

Coaches internal physicians as needed on effective communication and presentation skills for speaking engagements and introductions to referring and potential referring providers using approved company collateral and tool kit.

Works collaboratively with the internal marketing department and leaders of other key internal departments to increase service awareness, advocate for initiatives aimed at improving processes related to referrals, develop resources for referring providers and develop corrective action plans for any identified issues with referring offices.

Identifies and presents relevant territory information during marketing meetings regarding emerging business opportunities, changes in local healthcare services, market intelligence, public relations efforts and special events, referring provider feedback and networking opportunities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Marketing, Business, or Communications. 

Oncology Experience.

At least 2 years in a marketing role within a professional services environment or a physician relations role.  

Territory management and strategic planning experience; proven track record in developing and administering a marketing plan with proven results in outstanding referral growth.   

Demonstrates ability to use persuasive communication, leadership and relationship building skills. Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work with all levels within the organization.  

Polished presentation and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze data.  

Must possess strong knowledge and have experience with referral tracking data bases, Microsoft Excel and possess knowledge of MS Office and Windows based computer applications.
