We're seeking a talented IT & Resident Technician to provide local community technical support to The Mather Evanston in the areas of Audio/Visual and computer technology in accordance with established standards and procedures with support from the HQ based IT team. 

This position is full-time, hourly, based out of The Mather in Evanston (425 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60201), and reports to the Director of Accounting-The Mather. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed is required. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Customer Service
    • Communicate effectively with all residents and team members through oral/written communication.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with residents and coworkers to help work through their technology needs with patience and understanding.
    • Commit to service work, fostering an enjoyment of learning with and from each other, and sharing the knowledge gracefully.
  • AV Support:
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AV equipment and supervise contract-based installations.
    • Assist with coordinating vendor maintenance and installation.
    • Set up, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot teleconferencing equipment, multimedia devices, televisions, monitors, projectors, recording equipment, speaker sets, digital cameras/camcorders, and other presentation equipment.
    • Respond to The Mather incoming calls, helpdesk tickets or e-mails regarding AV software/hardware problems.
    • Document instances of AV equipment failure, repair, installation, and removal.
    • Handle incoming booking requests for AV equipment and setup for The Mather. 
  • Resident: 
    • Evaluate and communicate with residents using the technical language that is suitable to their needs.
    • Basic resident technology support of personal applications, Wi-Fi, email, smart phone, desktop, laptop, tablet, iOS devices, Android devices, personal printers, smart home, and resident portal.
    • Host basic resident technology training classes.
  • IT Support:
    • Provide first contact on-site support of all incoming TME requests to the helpdesk to ensure courteous, timely, and effective first level resolution of end-user computer and application issues.
    • Provide Life Centre technical support for software and hardware.
    • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level upgrading software and installing hardware at the direction of the IT Operations Manager.
    • Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) requests as directed by the IT Operations Manager.
    • Prioritize incidents and service requests according to defined processes.
    • Perform preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
    • Perform remote support for TME when in person is not feasible.
    • Deliver software applications training programs and individual classes to end users.
    • Create and communicate training schedules in consultation with departmental decision makers.
    • Assist vendors with onsite support requests directed by the IT Operations Manager

Qualifications and skills

Required:

  • BA degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of PC Hardware and software skills 
  • Basic knowledge of servers (maintenance and organization)
  • 1-year technical IT experience. 
  • Strong commitment to customer service. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
