Job Overview: 

We’re hiring a Director of Strategy in our Consumer Engagement group to help lead strategy as the lead agency among a large inter-agency team. The perfect candidate will be fluent in holistic strategy (ideally digital, social media, and inclusive of paid media strategies), ambitiously keeps abreast of the ever-changing marketing and media landscape innovations, and has experience bringing strategies to life for a major brand. Additionally, this person should have inter-agency team experience as we work with various agency partners to service this client. This person will be curious, ready to learn a variety of businesses. They should be strategic and creative as well as a thought leader and an ongoing student of social, digital, and emerging marketing trends.  


  • The Strategy Director will be responsible for developing strategic plans for our clients, and will partner extensively with both internal teams (account, creative, media and analytics) and clients to develop consumer engagement programs that provide value for both clients and their customers. They will be working “hands-on” to develop strategies and deliverables to ensure that TMA delivers on every brand and business building opportunity.
  • The Strategy Director is a seasoned consumer marketer with significant experience in digital marketing and a rich understanding of the channels and customer behaviors across mediums and platforms. This position has experience in national and global brands and is a passionate and innovative leader in using research, data, technology and creativity to solve our client’s business challenges in a measurable way.
  • This senior-level position will work closely with the VP of Strategy to ensure our consumer engagement strategic frameworks are distinct and effective so they produce quantifiable business results – and add value to the lives of consumers.


  • 8+ years Work Experience - Approximately 8 years of marketing experience with emphasis on retail and digital.
  • Agency Experience – At least 4+ years within an agency that focuses on consumer advertising, media, shopper or digital marketing.
  • Consumer Marketing Breadth & Depth - Experience in as many of the following areas of consumer marketing: brand strategy, positioning, traditional and digital advertising, mobile marketing, social media.
  • Social Media Strength - This role will require someone with a depth of understanding about how brands succeed in social, and the ability to recognize and provide client direction about new trends, and oversee social-media strategy development and creative briefs.
  • Integrated Consumer Engagement Strategy - Ability to interpret primary and secondary research, and develop brand positioning, personas, customer journeys and communication planning.
  • Marketing Business Acumen – Strong understanding of the value drivers of a client’s business including the key drivers of customer acquisition, engagement, conversion, retention, loyalty and advocacy as well as brand reach, sentiment and consumer segmentation analysis.
  • Client and Agency Partnerships – Proven experience developing trust among a client’s leadership team and navigating it before, during and after strategic development and execution. Ability to partner effectively with internal agency client and department leaders (such as analytics, media, account and creative).
  • Management and Leadership – Experiencing managing individuals is a plus, and that can include direct management or cross-functional leadership to develop and continuously improve our staff professionally.
  • Writing and Speaking – Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation experience to senior executives as well as a thought leadership (white papers, industry trade articles, etc.). Experience designing and running workshops is ideal.
  • Travel - Ability to travel 20-30% of the time to meet with existing and prospective clients.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing or business.
