Who We Are

The Farmer’s Dog is the fastest growing pet health service company in the US, and was born from a mission to change the landscape of pet health, providing dogs and their humans with honest, smart, and simple care – a fresh proposition in an industry riddled with manipulative and misleading marketing. We’re starting by radically improving the $100 billion pet food market, replacing bulk bags of highly-processed pellets with a personalized subscription service that sends healthy, freshly-made dog food, balanced by top veterinary nutritionists, directly to customers’ doors. Our ultimate goal is to create innovative, honest, and delightful experiences across all aspects of pet care, and we believe our direct-to-consumer business model, holistic approach to growth, and dynamic and forward-thinking culture uniquely position us to shepherd this backwards industry into the future.

To date, The Farmer’s Dog has delivered hundreds of millions of meals nationwide and raised over $150M in funding to help us build a company as healthy as the dogs who are eating those meals. Join us as we continue to develop ways of bringing peace of mind to our customers, health to their companions, and much-needed change to the way people feed and care for their pets.

Where You'll Come In

The social media manager will be responsible for bringing our brand to life on social media. You’ll oversee social strategy, and conceive, plan, execute, and post creative social content that connects with audiences. We are looking for someone who can conceive strategically sound, social-first ideas—and execute on those ideas. This role represents a unique opportunity to contribute to our brand voice across social platforms, to grow a passionate audience base, and help dogs and dog people everywhere live better together.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • You’ll work with our team to develop, evolve, and implement our overall social media strategy and audience growth plan.
  • You will help conceive smart, effective, and creative ideas designed for social distribution. You must be able to execute on those ideas—that may mean writing, or helping produce images, graphics and social video content independently and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • You’ll work with our brand and data team to uncover audience insights that can be used to drive ideas that people care about.
  • You’ll own social analytics - developing the best way to measure our success and translate performance data into new ideas.
  • You’ll conceive social-first brand campaigns in partnership with the broader brand and marketing team.
  • You’ll contribute day to day in the creation and management of content for all our channels including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. You’ll take the lead on developing ideas at all levels of ambition—from responsive, quick hits, to major, long-lead series.
  • You’ll own the content calendar, and measurement framework with a focus on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. You’ll be hands-on in daily posting.
  • You’re the go-to source for the latest insights on all the platforms. You’ll take the lead on evaluating existing and new platforms and thinking ahead on where and how we should show up. You’re also the first person to notice a trend / social moment and help determine how (or if) our brand should participate.

We're Excited About You Because

  • You have 5+ years of hands-on experience creating for a social channel or channels. Must have experience generating and creating daily social content, whether for a brand, agency, or a media outlet.
  • You’re fluent in social media. You have a deep understanding of social strategy, content creation protocols and best practices for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube, and how content across different social channels and platforms can build and grow a brand.
  • You possess the insight and hands-on skills that come with substantial experience running, and creating content for, social media channels for a recognized entity (preferably a publication or brand). If you are coming from an agency, please demonstrate that you’ve conceived and executed ideas, not just contributed to channel strategy.
  • You’re a "whole-brained" thinker and doer who can tap into both editorial instinct and data.
  • You can demonstrate meaningful experience with social media analytics tools; facility in generating weekly and monthly reports, and with interpreting data.
  • You’ve got a drive for cultural awareness. You have a genuine interest in staying on top of the trends and topics that matter to dog people, and that matter in culture, and know when (and when not) to capitalize on cultural moments.
  • You’re a clear, responsive communicator, verbally and in writing (design/photography skills a plus!).
  • You are attentive to detail with high standards of quality while maintaining an (authentically) friendly, positive attitude.
  • You’re adaptable to different working styles, mindsets, and personalities, showcasing a willingness to collaborate with all.
  • You’re a true dog person -- even if you don’t have one!
