JOB DESCRIPTION In healthcare advertising, the role of the VP Medical Director is to serve as a scientific steward for the brand by creating and developing high-quality scientific initiatives across multiple therapeutic areas. The VP Medical Director will be involved in brand planning and will guide brand teams by enhancing the team’s clinical knowledge and understanding of the product and therapeutic area, while also identifying medical opportunities that contribute to strategic and tactical development. The VP Medical Director will also play a part in new business opportunities by providing research and insights.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support account teams serving as the medical expert ensuring materials meet client’s specifications
Manage the development of clinical/scientific content that aligns with good medical practice, and fact check for accuracy
Ensure the audience is appropriate and deliverables meet brand objectives
Support new business development initiatives
Forge relationships with key thought leaders and drive communication strategies
Distill medical and scientific information into strategic and actionable insights for the brand
Manage multiple indications, including publication plans
Conduct research and identify references to support claims
Educate internal staff on medical topics relevant to client’s brands
Provide direction to creatives to create accurate medical content
Responsible for proper referencing and citations.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Advanced degree in healthcare (MD, DO, DDS, or PhD in a healthcare or science field)
5+ years of agency experience across multiple therapeutic areas, with a specialty in Oncology.
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical marketing principles, regulations, and practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong presentation skills
Ability to work independently and in a highly collaborative team environment
