TAAF serves the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in their pursuit of belonging and prosperity that is free from discrimination, slander, and violence. Founded in 2021 in response to the rise in anti-Asian hate and to address the long-standing underinvestment in AAPI communities, TAAF funds best in class organizations working to mobilize against hate and violence, educate communities, and reclaim our narratives through our core pillars of Anti-Hate, Education, Narrative Change, and Resources & Representation. About the Internship

TAAF is excited to offer an internship program that will provide participants with challenging, meaningful, and real-world experience. Participants will support departments on a variety of high-stakes projects related to administrative support, process development and improvement, and project management. In addition to having a dedicated mentor, participants will receive access to leadership and professional growth activities to gain valuable career experience in a fast paced startup environment focused on social change. 

The AAPI Youth and Mental Health intern will assist with various activities to help launch TAAF’s initiative on mental health and Asian American and Pacific Islander youth. They will conduct research, summarize their findings, and support ad hoc projects that advance TAAF’s mission to strengthen and support the AAPI community. Interns will collaborate and present a deep dive at the end of their internship to the greater TAAF team on their findings and recommendations. Our ideal intern will have knowledge of mental health issues and perspectives of AAPI youth and believe in working strategically with transparency and accountability, embrace a culture of learning, work respectfully with compassion, kindness and gratitude, and seek to be inclusive and collaborative in decision-making.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform research, identify relevant issues, trends, insights and gaps, and provide analyses to develop strategy and drive decision making
  • Assist with the strategy and development of programs and initiatives as they relate to mental health and AAPI youth
  • Collaborate with other TAAF teams to get results through influence and consensus building
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, processes, and performance
  • Complete other special projects and duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a secondary school, accredited technical/vocational program, college or university in the United States

 

Required Skills

  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to generate reports and summaries
  • Proficient with the use of Google Workspace (Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and perspectives of AAPI youth
  • Passionately supports, understands, and can communicate our mission to serve the AAPI community in our pursuit of belonging and prosperity that is free from discrimination, slander, and violence

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate is $15.00 unless otherwise determined by any applicable city, county and state regulations regarding minimum wage
