Summary: 

The Human Resources Associate is responsible for supporting employee engagement and events, benefits administration, new hire orientation, and employee communication.  The HR Associate works closely with NISC employees and coworkers in People Services as well as external vendors.  We are looking for a candidate who is committed to NISC’s Shared Values, enthusiastic about employee engagement, and passionate about creating a positive and supportive environment for NISC employees.  

Essential Duties:  

  • Assist in developing strategies to engage employees at all locations, including in a remote work environment.
  • Plan and execute employee events throughout the year.
  • Facilitate NISC employee committees and coordinate and support events planned by employee committees.
  • Serve as a contact for employees regarding policy, employee concerns and other HR-related questions.
  • Provide support to NISC employees and record interactions in CRM tool.
  • Assist in processing and administering benefits, including enrollments, changes, and coverage terminations.
  • Assist with new hire orientation, including delivering time sheet training, and facility tours.
  • Coordinate employee programs including educational assistance, technology loans, service awards, onsite wellness activities, employee safety, and onsite food vendors.
  • Assist with employee records management, including maintaining employee information in the Human Resources Information System and filing and scanning records.  
  • Coordinate employee communications through the internal company website, including newsletters, blogs, forums, employee meetings, and company-wide announcements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Preferred: 

Associate degree in human resources, accounting, or other business-related field, or 2 years of experience in a similar position. 

Minimum Physical Requirements: 

To perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to see, hear, and speak; maintain a stationary position and move; operate a keyboard/computer; operate a motor vehicle; and lift up to 30 pounds. ** The foregoing physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
