Tessera Summer Internship Program  

Duration:June 3- August 23, 2024 || Monday – Friday, 35-40 hrs./week 

  • Hands-on Experience:Internship participants will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on innovative projects at the forefront of biotechnology.  
  • Coffee Chats with Leadership:Regular informal sessions will be arranged where students can engage in candid conversations with Tessera Therapeutics' leadership team. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to gain insights into leadership styles, career paths, and industry trends. 
  • Career Development Workshops: Throughout the program, participants will have access to a series of workshops focused on enhancing key professional skills such as communication, drafting a resume and interviewing. 
  • Student Outings and Activities:To foster a sense of camaraderie and community among participants, Tessera Therapeutics will organize various outings and activities. 
  • Student Presentation:Opportunity to present accomplishments at the end of the program to the entire organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work both independently and collaboratively to design novel molecules (e.g. protein, nucleic acids, lipids) using rational and data-driven approaches.
  • Review the latest scientific literature in molecular modeling methods, especially those using biomolecular design, computational biophysics and machine learning (ML).
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to devise, train, interpet and apply models using public and proprietary sequence, structure, and function data.
  • Present scientific findings to project teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Rising junior, senior or MS student (for the co-op option) or MS/PhD student (for the internship option) working towards a degree in a STEM discipline with coursework in biophysics, biochemistry, mathematics, and computer science.
  • Familiarity with structure-function relationships of proteins and enzymatic mechanisms.
  • Fluency in one or more programming languages, especially Python.
  • Attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and troubleshoot.
  • Quick and engaged learner, independent thinker.
  • Enthusiasm and excitement for the pursuit of cutting-edge science.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with at least one molecular modeling software tool such as Rosetta, Schrodinger, NAMD, or GROMACS

Position Summary:

The Molecular Design internship will be responsible for supporting the design of new molecules and modeling the intricacies of molecular complexes. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic and self-motivated student who is comfortable multitasking and working in a team environment. This student will gain industry experience and exposure while working with our novel gene writing technology.
