We are seeking an experienced and passionate engineering manager to mentor and guide groups of interns in the field of CPU design. Within the Tensorrent internship program, we will hand-pick around 200 talented engineers over two years. These engineers will spend 3 months at Tenstorrent Japan for preparation and then one year at Tenstorrent in North America to hone their skills and return to Japan with cutting-edge knowledge.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong technical background in CPU architecture, design, and verification, combined with excellent communication and leadership skills. This role involves providing hands-on mentorship, facilitating learning opportunities, and ensuring a productive and enriching experience for interns.
This role is on-site, based out of Tokyo Japan.
Responsibilities:
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to interns at Tenstorrent Japan in CPU design projects, helping them navigate challenges and develop their technical skills.
- Training: Conduct workshops and training sessions on CPU architecture, design principles, and related tools and technologies, with support from other Tenstorrent experts.
- Continuous improvement: Contribute to and improve syllabus and training materials.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment by encouraging communication and teamwork among interns and other engineering staff.
- Resource Management: Ensure interns have access to the necessary resources, tools, training materials and support from relevant Tenstorrent experts to succeed in their roles.
- Reporting: Provide updates to management on intern performance, project progress, and overall team dynamics.
- Performance Evaluation: Regularly assess intern progress and provide constructive feedback to help them grow and improve. Lead the final assessment, to decide if the interns will be selected for the next stage of the internship at Tenstorrent in the USA.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Master or PhD degree in electrical, computer engineering or computer science
- Extensive experience in CPU design and architecture, with a solid understanding of relevant tools and methodologies (at least 15 years of industry or academic experience)
- Proven track record of mentoring or training junior engineers, students or interns
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in an understandable manner
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Passion for teaching and developing the next generation of engineers
- Fluency in Japanese
- Good English language skills (written and spoken)
