Tencent is looking for a communications professional with an interest in the video games industry to join the growing IEG (Interactive Entertainment Group) North America publishing team. This role will play an integral role in designing and implementing North American PR strategies and campaigns with gaming, lifestyle, technology and broadcast media to drive and sustain interest and awareness in our games. The Sr. Communications Manager will work  with top development studios around the world on exciting mobile, console and PC games, helping to develop larger global campaigns and put them into action across North America. This role will manage North American PR agencies to ensure a balanced focus on wide-reaching, day-to-day activation as well as on developing original, innovative campaign ideas appropriate to each title. To succeed, you'll combine creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, as well as enjoy briefing and pitching media. 



  • Formulate and implement winning global communications strategies for Tencent's titles, creating brand relevant stories that generate awareness & excitement amongst consumers. 
  • Take ownership of day-to-day PR responsibilities for several games at a time including writing press releases, pitching media and managing interviews.
  • Collaborate with partner studio organizations to shape the communications strategy and develop actionable campaigns.
  • Support development of NA PR strategies and key consumer campaigns that fit within a larger global framework,
  • Collaborate with internal Tencent comms and marketing partners around the globe..
  • Work with regional PR agencies to design and implement original feature led angles / ideas throughout technology and lifestyle press.

Senior Director, Communications, Tencent Games North America.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • 5 - 7 years experience in Public Relations/Communications 
  • Experience in the video game industry is preferred but not required, ideally with an understanding of F2P and GAAS models.
  • Exceptional project management skills and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive to completion
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to create high-concept PR campaigns while operating at a hands-on level.
  • Passionate, committed, self-starter with high levels of initiative, energy, ownership, urgency and a sincere willingness to learn from global team members at all levels.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to effectively engage with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Able to work under pressure and find solutions to multiple and varying needs.
  • Passion for communications, creativity and innovation.
  • Versatile project manager able to drill down into detail and clearly think through project timelines & interdependencies.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills with an ability to build productive relationships.
