WFAA-TV in Dallas, TX is searching for a Photographer/Editor to join our team. This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Producer of Good Morning Texas. This position requires shooting in the field, shooting live shots around North Texas and non-linear editing of pre-produced packages, other pre-taped taped segments and other shows. Strong candidates understand how news video exists on three screens (television, internet, mobile). And are prepared to record and edit on all three. Qualified candidates must be ready and able to quickly create high-quality content and the content must be ready for air and/or digital use in a timely manner.

Working alongside other news staff members, the ideal candidate will also be responsible for responding quickly to breaking news and managing content produced not only by themselves but others. Be an ethical journalist and have excellent communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Executive Producer and Senior Producer, to help in generating content on all GMT platforms. This includes editing stories for the on-air broadcast, website/social media and assembling stories with video, pictures and slideshows.
  • Responsible for coordinating and execution of “live” reports or taped packages as assigned. Shooting with remote camera and editing for segments and/or GMT packages and paid sales segments.
  • Must be knowledgeable about North Texas area from arts and entertainment to community interests.
  • Edit daily :30 minute taped show, GMT EXTRA
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities required for this job.
  • 2 years’ experience in shooting/editing for daily news program and/or lifestyle program.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent production skills including shooting; non-linear editing video; operating TVU/DJERO equipment and various field cameras
  • Strong ability to work under tight deadlines and the ability and desire to incorporate fresh elements into a daily show and pre-taped pieces
  • Hands-on working knowledge of Final Cut pro and or Adobe Premier editing platforms
  • Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work the hours based on your assigned schedule which will be based on a 40 hour work week. Scheduled hours may vary from time to time depending on assignments. In those cases, your supervisor will notify you of changes.
