The Head of Sourcing and Procurement provides leadership for all sourcing and procurement matters at TEGNA. This position is responsible for the development and execution of strategic sourcing policies and procedures, effective vendor/supplier negotiations, and continuous vendor/supplier performance reviews. The Head of Sourcing and Procurement will play a critical role in the transformation of our business by identifying opportunities and maintaining internal alignment with key stakeholders on appropriate SLA's and risk management. Regarding the position's responsibilities for negotiations with vendors/suppliers, success will be determined through cost savings/avoidance and maximizing partner value. The goal will be to drive cost savings for the Company.

This person will serve as a thought leader for the company's procurement process. This includes providing strategic guidance to internal stakeholders, and financial analysis with an overall focus on delivering valuable insights and reports to executive leadership involved in our efforts to develop new ways to reduce costs, create efficiencies, and invest in the business. This position is responsible for utilizing company and financial knowledge to create business cases for approval. This position will work closely with technology, content, digital and other operational teams to identify needs and appropriately allocate resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop TEGNA's sourcing strategy for leveraging suppliers of common goods or services for cost, service, and performance enhancements. Facilitate the process from beginning to end, including needs identification, development and issuance of RFI/P, vendor selection, negotiation of commercial terms and contract award, vendor onboarding and subsequent review of performance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key business leaders to understand and support their vendor needs. Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage purchasing power and gain strategic efficiencies.
  • Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews with vendors.
  • Conduct internal meetings with stakeholders to review supplier performance reviews and ensure we are continuously evaluating relationships and appropriately building in lead time for a vendor change, if appropriate.
  • Oversee vendor analytics, market analysis, and model potential outcomes to evaluate savings hypotheses and develop recommendations that drive cost savings.
  • Partner with Legal on standard terms and conditions for vendor agreements, contracts, and other Company matters.
  • Track expense savings and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Manage vendor contracts for all functional areas of the company. Enhance contract management policies and procedures. Oversee administration and maintenance of contract database (CobbleStone) for corporate and enterprise-wide agreements, procurement tool (Oracle Fusion).
  • Direct work of analyst(s) to support business case reviews and sourcing functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, or other quantitative fields.
  • 7-10+ years work experience including 5+ years work experience with consulting, sourcing, or procurement experience preferred.
  • Experience preparing and managing RFP processes and experience negotiating contracts with suppliers for goods and services.
  • Excellent people skills, organizational skills, analytical ability, and proven ability to work within teams in a decentralized environment.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint, as well as confidence in using new function specific resources. Excellent data analysis skills.
  • Ability to effectively interpret and simplify complex financial data and strategies to present polished accurate summary information - including data visualization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to manage change.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance long-term and short-term initiatives and projects.
  • Motivated to grow and perform in a high-performance organization.
  • Ability to deliver results, including cost savings.

This position is also eligible for the Company's bonus plan(s).
