WGRZ-TV Channel 2 On Your Side, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate station in Buffalo, NY has a terrific opportunity for an experienced Anchor and Multi-Skilled Journalist to join our team and grow. The ideal candidate is an enterprising journalist and a strong visual storyteller committed to local news. We seek an individual who will embrace our station’s mission to Inform, Advocate, and Celebrate the more than one and a half million people who proudly call Western New York home.

We are known as the station that asks tough questions, and the successful candidate must be deeply committed to upholding our brand as well as love covering breaking news. We’ve got a lot of that.

Our ideal candidate will be a newsroom leader who appreciates the daily collaborative team effort and helps guide our daily coverage with strong writing and news judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Anchor, report, shoot, and edit as assigned.
  • Work with producers to create compelling content for all platforms.
  • Generate unique, compelling, and innovative story/show ideas and content.
  • Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills a must.
  • Excellent use of social media for news gathering and community engagement
  • Find enterprise stories and tell them in a way that brings topics and characters to life.
  • Contribute to multiple platforms daily, including writing for the website and posting on social media.
  • Collaborate with a team to produce the most creative, compelling stories.
  • Develop contacts and relationships in the community.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Journalism or Mass Communication degree preferred with two years of experience preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
  • Embraces team approach to accomplish tasks successfully.
  • Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills
  • Ability to shoot and edit.
  • Knowledge of ENPS and Edius (editing) a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines.
  • Specialized reporting experience (investigative) a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound editorial decisions and help form coverage plans during breaking news.
  • Develop news sources for general assignment and special areas of interest
  • Produce news stories that are unique and captivating
  • Work as part of a large, inclusive team that supports each other
