As the Marketing Director for CBS 8 and The CW San Diego / TEGNA, you will assume the role of the station's primary brand steward. Your responsibilities will include

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a collaborative business partner to the station's leadership team to push the boundaries of audience engagement, revenue generation, and brand potential.
  • Leading and motivating a team of talented creatives to deliver impactful consumer and advertiser campaigns, fostering a culture of creative excellence and innovation.
  • Managing the creative process, including brainstorming sessions, creative brief writing, script development, and providing constructive feedback to team members.
  • Ensuring the continual growth and development of the marketing team through developmental opportunities, training, feedback, performance evaluations, and pushing innovation.
  • Developing strategic marketing plans to connect audiences with our content, prioritizing key messages and devising breakthrough concepts and strategies.
  • Contributing to the station's strategic planning and budgeting processes, facilitating effective communication and execution of plans.
  • Implementing audience development strategies based on research insights, data analytics, and marketing activations.
  • Develop and foster partnerships to promote our content, digital products, and our community engagement.
  • Spearheading strategic cross-department and cross-business unit marketing initiatives to maximize brand impact, visibility, and revenue generation.
  • Supporting local sales teams in generating non-traditional revenue streams through innovative marketing approaches.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of eight (8) years in consumer marketing experience with a promotion-specific record of success especially in broadcast, cable, digital or agency (marketing/digital/advertising).
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing or a similar field, and a minimum of 8 years of consumer marketing experience with a promotion-specific record of success especially in broadcast, cable, digital or agency (marketing/digital/advertising). Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and relationships, including delivering and receiving both positive and constructive feedback to direct reports and department heads.
  • Passion and respect for local news, the First Amendment and quality journalism.
  • Hands-on experience in marketing content on both linear and non-linear platforms, including utilizing and optimizing display marketing campaigns; retargeting, social media, OTT marketing, mobile marketing, etc.
  • Proven track record translating broadcast designs and concepts to interactive digital and social media campaigns.
  • Proven track record of developing and producing revenue-driving client campaigns.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency within a deadline-oriented fast-paced team environment and juggle multiple projects and priorities at once.
  • Possess proven communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal) with the know how to tailor all communications to the audience for which it is intended.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and develop presentations that effectively sell a given strategy, tell a story and can persuasively sell-in ideas/media plans/budgets/strategies/off-channel spends/trade partner strategies/other tactics to all levels of station and corporate management, to advertisers and other stakeholders.
  • Must understand the value of promotions placement across multiple mediums as a fundamental driver in executing the brand strategy.
  • Must be comfortable working non-traditional hours to compete in breaking news situations.
  • Ability to drive short-term results while holding a long-term vision.
  • High professional standards, check any ego at the door, and quickly earn the respect of colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop & After Effects.
  • Working knowledge of on-air, streaming, and digital promotion production techniques, and familiarity with current production and photography trends.
  • Knowledge in professional HD/4K videography equipment, including DSLRs & high-end cinema cameras - creative lighting techniques, audio mixing and motion graphic design (preferred).
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & iWork: Pages, Numbers, & Keynote.

Pay Range
$115,000$150,000 USD
