As the Sr. Director, Business Analytics you will have a unique impact on Techstars’ Business Analytics team whose purpose is to make all aspects of our investment and portfolio support decisions data driven.  If you are passionate about working with data and want to build an analytic function from the ground up, let’s talk!

Your Role:

  • Work closely with the executive team to define analytics strategy to support business goals
  • Be a thought leader on how we can best use data to achieve strategic objectives, closely monitor industry trends
  • Help us answer some of the most impactful and strategic data questions as we grow and scale, translate the business questions into data questions 
  • Build our Business Analytics team and processes from the ground up
  • Recruit, train, develop and supervise analyst-level employees
  • Roll up sleeves and dig into the data!  This role is a combination of hand-on delivery + leadership
  • Plan and prioritize analytics needs within larger cross-functional business initiatives
  • Define and implement data management methods and techniques to achieve the necessary data quality objectives 
  • Partner with data engineering team to help ensure our technical data products enable business needs 
  • Create the necessary processes to help the whole organization make sure of data (e.g. data catalog, dictionary, training)
  • Manage our suite of reporting and analytics solutions 


  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 7+ years in data analysis and reporting 
  • 3+ years in a senior role, developing analytics and reporting strategies 
  • A passion for data and the desire to dig in
  • Stellar communication and stakeholder management track record, experience working with both engineers and executives 
  • Strong technical skills (SQL, Tableau, Python) and familiarity with modern data platforms
  • Expertise is data management and data governance (e.g. mastering, lineage, reference data, data quality, data stewardship etc) 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, desire to drive data and analytical transformation, ability to thrive in ambiguity with an eye on long term strategy and step-wise execution
  • Experience building and coaching teams of analysts
  • Excellent product management, project management and a track record of execution
  • Experience in VC, fintech or a related field 

Compensation range: $150,000+ and 10% Bonus
