The Lead Data Engineer is a professional role focused on supporting the strategy, development and execution of the Financial Services data and analytics infrastructure.  They must have a solid understanding of the financial subject areas for which they are responsible.  The Lead Data Engineer will work closely with Financial Services data owners, business stewards, and technical stewards to ensure that Financial Services data remains decision ready for Financial Services staff.  This includes monitoring data pipelines, ensuring the correct access to data is maintained and that key financial data sets remain in-sync with the various financial source systems.  This individual understands Oracle ERP data sources and how they relate to business processes to ensure curated data sets are available for Financial Services reporting needs.  Successful candidates for this role must have strong analytical and data modeling skills, a solid understanding of database technology and data use within analytic platforms. The role requires a skilled problem-solver who is well-versed in applying advanced technology tools and processes to a wide range of financial business activities and is able to partner with internal and external stakeholders across the department to achieve shared data objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with business stakeholders and IT to translate business logic into scalable data and analytic solutions

  • Works with business stakeholders to ensure ERP data is ready and in curated data sets for end users

  • Performs ad-hoc data analysis as necessary 

  • Develops ETL pipelines for general business consumption, typically leveraging existing patterns as available for specific project execution

  • Manages financial data access groups within Tableau/ThoughtSpot/Alteryx for general business consumption

  • Sustains and monitors data pipelines from financial systems in close partnership with IT

  • Works with various Financial Services stakeholders to understand, document and scope process improvements needed for new financial data pipelines

  • Maintains solid understanding of the suite of technology tools (ThoughtSpot, Alteryx, Tableau, AWS, etc.)

  • Responsible for end user notification of any data failures that occur outside of the Financial Source Systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Has strong financial data acumen 

  • Has strong analytical and data modeling skills

  • Has experience with Oracle (ERP) Financial modules

  • Has a solid understanding of database technology

  • Has strong skills in SQL 

  • Fast learner and proven problem solver

  • Keen eye for system thinking and process design, especially with respect to scalability and automation

  • Keen eye for detail and thoughtful investigation of data

  • Has a steadfast focus on creating impactful change

Minimum Years of Experience: 

  • 3 years minimum in financial data engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience

  • Master's Degree in Finance and/or Accounting, MIS, Decision Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science or other similar fields

  • Has some experience using the AWS big data technology stack

  • Has some skill using Python

  • Has some exposure experience using data visualization tools

  • Has some experience implementing data governance principles
