Title: Sales Tax Analyst (known internally as our New Client Onboarding Specialist)

Location: 100% REMOTE (USA)

About The Role

TaxValet is looking for a multifaceted teammate to join our new client onboarding team who excels at problem solving, finding creative solutions and supporting clients with complex issues. At TaxValet, we are fanatical about our clients having an incredible first impression working with us. And if you join us, you’ll be a big part of the reason why. So, if you are the type of person who loves digging into and analyzing a spreadsheet, but also enjoys connecting with people - keep reading!

The purpose of the Sales Tax Analyst (internally referred to as a New Client Onboarding Specialist) is to get clients totally set up within our systems so that the Sales Tax Filing Team can begin submitting their sales tax filings (this role does not manage filing returns). Lots of training will be provided.

This role typically involves analyzing client data and performing research to provide an analysis of sales tax nexus and ensuring the clients’ tax systems are set up to our high standards of excellence. You’ll be working closely with external clients, as well as working closely with internal teammates.

This is a unique opportunity for those unique people who love diving into the nitty-gritty of a detailed spreadsheet, and are simultaneously outgoing and love to connect with people.

In time, you’ll be considered a sales tax expert and someone that many will turn to when looking for advice.

Don’t worry—we’ll provide lots of sales tax training and help along the way. Your attitude and potential are much more important than your current knowledge and experience.

Your Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn and grow professionally and wants a career (not just a job). We can train you on a lot of things, but here are our non-negotiables:

  • 1-2 years of experience working with project management, accounting, sales tax, and/or research.
  • Glowing references from past supervisors.
  • Sales tax experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.

  • You hate being bored and feel excited by new challenges and problems to solve.
  • You approach life proactively and don’t sit around waiting to be told what to do.
  • When you read over TaxValet’s core values, you feel excited and inspired at the thought of embodying them day-to-day.
  • You bring both a high attention to detail and a curious heart
  • Communication is your jam. You excel at putting together emails to clients. You shine during in person meetings with clients such that the client leaves inspired and resolved.  This role will involve a LOT of client interaction and communication.
  • You are able to put someone at ease who is stressed out and anxious.
  • You don’t hesitate to set clear boundaries and expectations with clients, never afraid to follow up to get what you need to get across the finish line.
  • You don’t waste time on frivolous activities. You manage an ever-changing calendar with ease due to your excellent time management skills
  • You are always eager to learn new skills and technologies. You are great at researching (and understanding) complex information. You’re always a team player at heart, and you never hesitate to share your learnings with your team or apply learnings gained from your collaboration with others.
  • It’s natural for you to bring order and clarity to complex and chaotic situations.

Please note that the final step before being hired is for you to arrange reference calls with three former managers.
