The position reports to the National Reverse Logistics Manager

Your responsibilities will include:

Operational Duties

  • Overall management and coordination of all DC activities, including but not limited to recovery stock processing, stock management, SHE, Risk & Quality of operation.
  • Ensure adherence to agreed service levels and implement initiatives to enhance recovery processes.
  • Ensure that all stock is accurately received, evaluated, filed, and dispatched appropriately within KPI parameters.
  • Drive stock accuracy through disciplined stock control and implement stock accuracy improvement initiatives.
  • Management of stock count program/schedule, reconciliation and reporting thereof.
  • Ensure adequate control measures are implemented to make sure that inaccuracies, and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed, and resolved timeously.
  • Monitor and optimize operational metrics including quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with the company policies and administer practices in fair and equitable manner.
  • Collaborate with support functions (Returns, HR, Finance, IT and Supply Chain) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives. 
  • Manage projects according to stipulated time frames.
  • Maintain compliance to all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards and legislation as set out by the business and the OHS Act
  • Consistent compliance to good hygiene and housekeeping disciplines, ensure 5S program is properly implemented and maintained within facility
  • Service & maintenance of all equipment utilized within the DC’s operation.

Financial Management

  • Manage monthly operational costs within budget constraints and control the flexing of costs in line with processing volume fluctuation.
  • Controls cost through process improvement initiatives, productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of space and protection of stored materials. 
  • Ensures protection and accuracy of stock by adhering to all stock control processes and procedures. 
  • Participate in annual budget process and long-term planning. 

People Management

  • Provide leadership and direction to DC staff.
  • Forecasting staffing requirements needed to meet service, financial and operational requirements.
  • Communicate organizational vision and strategies to staff.
  • Establish performance measures, conduct regular evaluations, and ensure that staff productivity is measure and achieved.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly planning is done for all operations including but not limited to, resource planning, departmental organizational design, seasonal planning and manage adherence to plans.
  • Ensure that all business processes, procedures, and job profiles are documented, updated, and communicated to staff.
  • Ensure all staff understand the DC KPI’s and work to achieve the desired results
  • Conduct Performance Appraisals of staff in line with company deadlines.
  • Foster skill development and succession planning.
  • Manage absenteeism and ensure Takealot code of conduct and policies is adhered to and not transgressed.
  • Ensure that regular operations meetings are held with staff to manage productivity and expectations.
  • Manage the general wellbeing of personnel, including discipline.
  • Ensure continuous high performance of quality work.
  • Encourage continuous improvement of service.

Reporting

  • Establish and maintain performance measurement systems.
  • Prepare various reports and analyses as required.
  • Provide regular management reporting on operational performance, productivity, and budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Matric plus a 3 year post matric qualification in Supply Chain, Operations and Logistics Management.
  • 4-5 years of managerial experience in a complex operational environment.
  • Previous exposure to warehousing and stock management. 
  • Proven track record of driving productivity improvements and cost reductions.
  • Experience in operational project management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong financial acumen
