Takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Catalogue Data Specialist to join our Merchant Product team in Cape Town. You will have overall responsibility for project related tasks, including the manipulation of large data sets.

The position reports to the Catalogue Operations Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively identify and manage potential process gaps/escalations within the current catalogue processes
- Consult with various business areas around fundamental components required to manage operational risk and deliver initiatives in accordance with business requirements
- Responsible for new process mapping or design
- Maintain any changes to the catalogue systems, process and procedures and update the catalogue user guides accordingly
- Taking end to end ownership for catalogue operations processes assigned to you, including detailed analysis to understand the root cause of issues, execution of the solution and internal operational rollout
- Implementation of relevant SOPs related to standard tasks performed
- Taking ownership for the pipeline of tasks assigned to you, to ensure that they are executed on according to defined turnaround SLAs that are agreed with stakeholders
Attributes required:
- Intermediate to advanced experience in working with data (SQL and Excel)
- Versatile, resourceful and able to work on varied tasks simultaneously
- Commercially minded
- Proven track record of task ownership, execution and delivery - specifically in process mapping and design
- Highly logical, with strong attention to detail in a high-pressure environment
- Solutions-oriented, self-motivated with a can-do attitude and high energy
- Self-guided learner with a passion for efficiency
- Strong data analysis skills and able to use data to make decisions
- Ability to verbalize and visualize outcomes and communicate trends in a clear, concise manner
- Ability to compile detailed user guides to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
- Highly organized and efficient
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with diverse teams
- Exposure in a retail or e-commerce environment is a plus
Qualifications and Experience:
- National Senior Certificate
- A relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor's Degree or similar)
- SQL
- Experience with Project Management tools, including process mapping tools
- 2 Years experience in a similar role related to process improvement
- E-commerce experience is advantageous
