takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented  Marketing Manager (Push & In-App) to join our team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Head of Insights & CRM

Your responsibilities will include:

  • App & Direct Marketing Strategy - Develop & implement an app marketing strategy that is aligned with the business’s overall objectives. This includes increased personalisation and engagement on mobile, driving traffic, acquiring new customers, increasing frequency of shop and retaining existing customers. 
  • Marketing Campaigns - You will be responsible for planning and executing Takealot’s in-app and push notification campaigns which deliver on Merchant, Brand, CRM, Advertising and Promotional priority requests. This includes crafting a calendar for in-app and push notifications, briefing in requirements to the design and traffic teams as well as testing and scheduling all campaigns. You will work very closely with the Email and CRM Marketing team to ensure that campaigns make use of omnichannel marketing. At times you will also need to assist in briefing, designing and scheduling campaigns that make use of both email and mobile marketing. This may require work outside of standard business hours and will be managed accordingly.
  • KPIs and Targets- You will be responsible for setting daily and monthly KPI targets that drive increased mobile engagement and are aligned with the overarching KPI targets. You will also be responsible for reporting back on performance against these KPIS on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 
  • Mobile Expert - You will be required to become a channel expert on Braze, our App marketing and analytics tool to ensure that Takealot remains at the forefront of mobile and omnichannel marketing. This includes researching best practise and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies.
  • Reporting and Analysis - You will be responsible for reporting on the performance of all mobile campaign types and will need to actively deep-dive performance problems. This includes understanding the mobile/app customer, understanding performance shortfalls, recommending and implementing solutions, and ultimately correcting performance issues.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business including Email, CRM, Brand, Advertising and Merchant teams to support business priorities and achieve KPI targets.
  • Audience Segmentation & Database Management - You will be responsible for selecting and segmenting Mobile audiences to achieve optimal campaign results. 
  •  Optimisation - You will be required to run A/B tests to optimise all mobile marketing campaigns and  increase engagement metrics. You will also need to actively review existing campaign processes to inform process improvements and efficiencies.

Attributes required:

  • Digitally tech savvy, with experience in mobile/CRM marketing
  • Experience using CRM Tools and marketing automation software (i.e. Salesforce, Localytics and Braze)
  • Analytical and data-driven with a demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • A good understanding of the mobile landscape and app marketing. 
  • Ability to conduct analyses to better understand the mobile/app customer.
  • Confident presentation skills with extensive experience presenting to Senior Management and Executives.
  • Excellent written communication and copywriting skills
  • Highly organised and efficient, with an ability to work towards and meet tight deadlines 
  • Creatively minded with an ability to craft numerous campaigns across multiple departments
  • A grounding in Marketing and Communication principles
  • Solutions-oriented with a proactive and can-do attitude
  • A strong working knowledge of Google sheets and/or Microsoft Excel
  • A passion for using technological solutions to improve performance
  • Versatile and with the appetite to learn by doing
  • Exceptional eye for detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build relationships across teams
  • Experience using liquid or other coding languages is advantageous

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in Mobile/CRM Marketing
  • Experience with app marketing and strategies (advantageous)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Marketing or related field
  • Experience in e-commerce environment (advantageous)
