We’re seeking a talented Security Engineer to help scale up our product security function.
As an early-stage and fully remote company, we’re looking for individuals who can help move the product forward & maintain a strong security posture. The ability to think on your feet, collaborate with highly technical teams, and be comfortable working asynchronously are essential.
Responsibilities and Duties:
As part of the team, you will:
Improve the security properties of the Tailscale product by identifying opportunities for defense-in-depth and implementing them across our codebase
Audit product features for security weaknesses, identifying mitigations or solutions and driving them towards resolution
Support engineering decisions with threat modeling & security analysis/expertise
Qualifications and skills:
Prior experience in a security-related role is desirable, for example one of:
AppSec: especially for Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
Operating system internals & system hardening
Penetration testing
Threat-modeling and prioritization
Experience working as part of a team to maintain a good security posture across a product line and/or infrastructure
Proficiency in coding, particularly in Go, which is used across our stack.
Additionally:
Ability to give and process constructive feedback, as well as work independently
Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup
Empathetic communication skills: championing security concerns without losing sight of user needs or usability
