About Syapse Epidemiology

Syapse has built a massive and revolutionary data-sharing network integrating clinical and molecular data from various health systems. Syapse Epidemiology is at the forefront of unlocking insights from this database to push forward the practice of precision medicine in cancer. You’ll be part of a team of epidemiology experts critical to the design and execution of our real-world data (RWD) studies, including the development of the study protocol,  statistical analysis plan and insights generation. Epidemiology plays a critical role in supporting both our health system and life science partners, as well as our product portfolio.

How You’ll Spend Your Days

You’ll interact with a cross-functional team to drive the development of real-world data insights in Syapse products, research studies, and publications.

  • Design, implement, interpret, report and publish the results of observational research studies that demonstrates the utility of RWD for customer needs
  • Ask the right scientific questions, ideate and make recommendations on fit-for-purpose data and analytics solutions 
  • Develop a comprehensive and deep understanding of the company’s data and foster learning with colleagues using analytical tools and applications to broaden data accessibility and advance our proficiency/efficiency in understanding and using the data appropriately.
  • Collaborate with external partners (e.g., key opinion leaders, regulatory decision makers, academic institutions, life science partners, payers) as needed on the design and implementation of RWD studies
  • Collaborate with internal partners (analytics, informatics, oncology and strategy) to  understand RWD needs and priorities, and develop plans to execute RWD projects based on these needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of observational data analysis methods and their application
  • Stay current with and adopt emergent analytical methodologies, tools and applications to ensure fit-for-purpose and impactful approaches.

What you bring to the table

  • A PhD with an emphasis in epidemiology 
  • Knowledge of RWD study design and execution
  • Experience with data analysis, specifically from observational study designs 
  • Experience with epidemiological, registry, EMR, and/or claims data
  • Experience using R, Python, SQL or similar and a highly technical acumen
  • Experience summarizing data for presentation
  • You are a doer, self motivated and driven. 
  • Effective scientific communication; written and verbal
  • Bonus Points: Cancer expertise, strong publication history, & teaching/mentoring experience

Compensation: The target base salary for this position is $155,000-185,000. 

This base salary is only a part of a total compensation package including: annual performance bonus, benefits, 401k with match, and flexible PTO. Individual pay may vary from the target range as a number of factors including market forces, experience, location, disparities in market data and other relevant business considerations may all factor into final compensation.
