SQL Server powers the “Data” in “People Powered Data” here at SurveyMonkey. It’s mission critical for our customers, and our SQL Server Ops team keeps things running smoothly. In this role, you will lead the team to manage, automate, scale, and optimize one of the largest SQL Server environments in the world.
Lead a team of expert DBAs to manage Microsoft SQL Server
Build strong partnerships with other engineering and infrastructure teams
Coach and mentor DBAs and other members of data infrastructure
Participate in DBA duties and the on-call rotation
Understand and troubleshoot issues across the stack (hardware, software, and network)
Help design and build automation & tooling around all facets of database operation
Partner with engineering teams to improve data infrastructure usage and to follow best practices
Strong experience leading an engineering team in complex, large environments
Strong coaching and mentorship skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Deep knowledge of database & engineering fundamentals
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL programming
Experience with automation & coordination of hosts in a Windows environment
Experience with Linux environments and open-source tools such as git
Able to write PowerShell (Python/Bash is a major plus)
