What we’re looking for

The Billing and Payments team is a multinational engineering team which creates and maintains the software platform for SurveyMonkey’s global payments and billing systems. Our primary focus is to ensure that our customers enjoy a secure checkout experience. This year we are expanding the team to work on an exciting new integration with Stripe to allow us to enhance the experience for our customers

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Billing and Payments engineering team in India. As the leader of this team, you’ll work closely with various stakeholders both within India and overseas stakes holders. across Market Research, AI and core survey teams within SurveyMonkey as well as external partners/services to build APIs and services that deliver a compelling product. We welcome new ideas and fresh perspectives which can help grow our team and our product. 

What you’ll be working on

  • Lead a team of experienced developers and QA engineers to design, build, and scale next gen. SurveyMonkey self-serve checkout experience.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to make sound judgments in complex and dynamic situations. This includes prioritizing tasks, resolving conflicts, and mitigating risks.
  • Hire and retain world-class talent. Build world class engineering teams. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire engineering teams. This includes experience in managing and mentoring engineers, providing technical guidance, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Facilitate career growth for your team members through coaching, frequent feedback and providing opportunities to develop their strengths and acquire new skills.
  • Work closely with UX designers, product managers and development team to build new experiences and key functionality
  • Be a key player in cross-team technical initiatives and own the technical aspects of software architecture and development
  • Continuously build and expand your own technical expertise as well as drive excellence in engineering within the team
  • Responsible for service and uptime SLA’s.
  • Become subject matter expert to guide other stakeholders and engineers.
  • Responsible for delivering crucial and time sensitive commitments.

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 5+ years of experience managing successful and high performing teams
  • 12+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience leading and shipping large-scale cross functional projects
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and facilitating effective communication within the engineering team.
  • Ability to work with both co-located and remote engineers and cross-functional partners 
  • Deep expertise in designing and building world-class services and APIs
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience with Cloud technologies, especially AWS
  • Expertise with, and an excellent track record using Python at scale
  • Familiarity with Billing and Payments domain and understanding of how integrations with Payment Service Providers (PSPs) work.
