More about our Data Infrastructure Team
The Data Infrastructure team manages all the open source databases at SurveyMonkey. This remote team is made up of industry veterans and data enthusiasts. Our databases are essential across all of the SurveyMonkey infrastructure, and we maximize uptime and performance of these critical systems.
What we're looking for
Reporting to the Manager of Database Engineering, you will work as a member of the data infrastructure team, focusing on open-source databases, primarily MySQL. You will work with the team to maintain our open-source data infrastructure, write automation, advise engineers on best practices, and participate in the on-call rotation. You will work with new AWS data stores and help manage their implementation. You will work with other members of the data infrastructure team, developers, product managers, and other team members on projects from idea to implementation.
- Maintain the Open-source databases and supporting infrastructure
- 8+ years with Data Infrastructure, Data Engineering or related experience
- Lead major database-related projects
- Work with application teams and other infrastructure groups on database related issues
- Research, recommend, and implement alternate data platforms
- Experience managing open-source databases (Cassandra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other)
- Experience with Linux systems administration
- Experience with database supporting systems, including Orchestrator, ProxySQL, Prometheus
- Experience with AWS data stores and EC2
