Supporting Strategies currently has over 70 offices throughout the U.S. and is continuing to grow rapidly! Our original flagship office in Boston is currently looking for a Director of Virtual Accounting Services. This is a leadership role responsible for company management, leading high impact professional teams and developing client relationships.

COMPANY MANAGEMENT

  • Strong liaison relationship with Managing Director / CEO for evaluating and executing operational activities and setting strategic goals.

  • Manage adoption of Supporting Strategies’ processes, systems and initiatives to improve client delight while keeping abreast of latest developments in technologies.

  • Lead roll out of strategic initiatives to teams under direct management.

  • Plan and monitor ongoing operations and augment accordingly to facilitate accelerating development.

TEAM MANAGEMENT and RECRUITMENT (recruit, manage, coach and motivate teams)

  • Provide accountability for the delivery of services ensuring customer expectations are exceeded and employee costs are managed to budget.

  • Promote teamwork and develop positive methodologies for accountability and excellence.

  • Actively track team capacity.

  • Lead the recruiting effort to support business needs and growth including working closely Talent Team.

  • Participate in team managers’ annual performance evaluations and coordinate managers’ evaluation process of associates.

CLIENT / ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

  • Build relationships throughout client base to foster long-term client relationships.

  • Support clients’ evolving requirements by educating executives on Supporting Strategies deep and varied expertise in bookkeeping / accounting and operational services.  

  • Build trusted advisor relationship with client executives by gaining an in-depth understanding of their business objectives. 

  • Proactively identify and resolve escalated service delivery issues.

  • Monitor customer satisfaction.

  • Identify areas for improved account management.  

 BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

  • Prepare annual budget and adjust periodically as operation evolves.

  • Oversee regular client billings and employee costs.

  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.

  • Identify business trends and changes and proactively interpret implications.

  • Balance workflow by aligning client’s needs, staffing levels and business trends.

  • Participate in Company pricing activities including QuickBooks review and understanding prospects needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Accounting or related field.

  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

  • 8 years of accounting experience, 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Experience in a Public Accounting firm highly desirable.

  • Capacity to work up to 35 hours a week during daytime business hours Monday through Friday supporting clients and multiple teams.

  • Superior relationship building skills and account management experience with clients ranging from pre-revenue to $50m in revenues.

  • Experience in developing strong remote team relationships based on trust, accountability, integrity, and sharing of best practices preferred.

  • Excellent project management skills and thorough understanding of professional accounting and bookkeeping practices.

  • Strong computer and technical skills including QuickBooks (enterprise and Online), Bill.com Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, intranet and multiple applications.

  • Ability to multi-task, think independently and problem solve in a results-driven, team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.

  • Availability for travel in the Boston area based on client and business needs.
