Engineering at SuperRare Labs:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer who will work on building the next phase of SuperRare Lab’s data services platform. Our engineering team is comprised of web, mobile, data, and dev ops groups. We strive to be more than the sum of our individual parts, and are driven by our core values: candor, autonomy, and communication. We are an all-remote company, but prefer that you have availability during US work hours EST to facilitate better collaboration with your core team. This role will report to the Director of Engineering. 

What you’ll do:

  • Work with our team of engineers, data scientists, and product leads architecting and building the next phase of SuperRare Lab’s data services platform
  • Integrate and embed data services into core product applications via pipelines, APIs, and analytics services 
  • Create tools that help data analysts and scientists keep research out of silos and into the engineering stack
  • Collaborate with the data science team developing services that support machine learning research and deployment
  • Increase data service maturity level in regards to observability, monitoring, and versioning
  • Support the evolution of art and artists in the digital world

What you have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • 5+ years experience designing and building data intensive applications in the small and at scale
  • A demonstrable understanding of data engineering patterns and best practices and how to apply them appropriately
  • Comfort setting up and owning basic infrastructure while working with the Ops Team as needed for complex builds
  • Deep expertise connecting the data model dots at the conceptual level and translating to a flexible physical design in the warehouse
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Apache Airflow) and batch/real-time data processing (e.g. Spark, Kafka, Flink)Fluent in Python or Scala, SQL

SuperRare powers / bonus points if you can demonstrate:

  • Prior work with Google Cloud Platform
  • Knowledge of graph database design and integration
  • Expertise handling data lineage as architecture complexity increases
  • Understanding of statistics in an applied setting (e.g. A/B testing, Count-min sketch)
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance
  • Experience with GraphQL API tools like Postgraphile and Hasura
  • A current knowledge of (or future interest in learning) Haskell
